Working for the Weekend
Well I've finished all my work for my day job and now it's time to make some headway on my own stuff. Maybe I'll accomplish something before the end of the day.

Quick Money
I think this weekend I'm going to quickly put together a site selling t-shirts related to the Hurricanes in Florida. Some kind of "I survived..." design. I think there's a potential to make a little bit of quick money. Plus, I'll donate a dollar per item sold to Habitat for Humanity. Need to do this right away though. Of course every hour I spend on this diverts me from the work I need to do on my other main ideas. But a couple extra hundred bucks could be helpful in getting things rolling. Apart from getting this idea, I haven't made any progress today. I hope to get some time this weekend to make some headway.

Another Reason to Quit
Yesterday I drove my parents to the airport after their visit this weekend.

Site Update
I've added an "about" section to the site and a "contact" section.
This Day Job is Getting in the Way
My day job is getting in the way of making progress on any of my own work. I'll be working until late tonight to get a demo site ready for an international WebEx call later this week. As if I didn't need reminding, this is one of the reasons why I need to quit. Damn you paycheck! If it wasn't for you I would have quit already!

LLC Me
So I got a chance to speak with my Dad this weekend about getting an actual business structure formed. He's a lawyer and free legal advice helps when you're trying to start something on your own. Forming the LLC should be easy, but there's a small snag. Registering your business at the state level is a fairly straight-forward process. Registering at the federal level to get an EIN (employer identification number) is actually convoluted when your forming a single member entity that's not a sole-proprietorship. This means that it seems that the IRS won't recognize an LLC that's composed of just one member (in essence one owner). Consultation with an accountant will now be required. Plus I still need to pay a lawyer in the state of Washington (where I live), to register either as a foreign LLC here, as a primary LLC here, or if I need to at all. I get the feeling that a lot of small startups don't bother too much with making sure everything is kosher, and that possibly the states and the IRS don't worry about it too much either. But I do want to do this right. The question is how much is doing it right going to cost me and how long will it take?
